Nepal to improve the health sector

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Nepal’s Department of Health Services, the Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) to strengthen Nepal’s public health sector.

The main focus of the agreement is promote use of low cost innovations to treat diseases such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, maternal haemorrhage during child birth, and severe malnutrition developed by ICCDR,B; to develop joint research proposals to seek international funding; to strength human resources for health;  and to strengthen the capacity for research.

Representatives from the Government of Nepal, NPHF, WHO, UNICEF, DFID, USAID and ICDDR,B were present at the signing ceremony.

The officials state that the MoU would provide a great opportunity for the NPHF to improve Nepal’s health sector through collaboration.
