BP healthcare aims to own 20 medical centers nationwide, by 2018

Singapore: BP healthcare, a day care medical center operator, declared the opening of four new medical centers this year. This would be an addition to its already existing network of five centers. This new initiative will involve a minimal investment of over $30 million.

Founded in January 1982, BP Healthcare has over 70 laboratories, 50 diagnostic centers, 50 hearing aids centers, 50 dispensaries and pharmacies, 50 food and industrial testing centers, five specialist daycare centers, three dental specialist clinics and one eye specialist clinic.

Of the four new centers, three would be located in Johor and one in Penang. It is estimated that each of the mini hospitals would cost between $6 million to $15 million based on the location and size of the center.

Mr Datuk Chevy Beh Yen San, MD, BP healthcare said the firm aimed to own up to 20 medical centers nationwide, by 2018. He said that the day care centers would soon be converted into full-fledged hospitals.

Mr San said, "The day care centers are equipped with advanced treatments and technologies in line with hospitals. We aim to grow both organically and inorganically. Our focus is to open and run a chain of hospitals in the country."
